1. Differences in Ink Formulation and Printhead Compatibility

Ricoh printheads (such as Gen4/Gen5/Gen6) are industrial-grade large piezoelectric printheads. The viscosity, surface tension, and pigment particle size of their ink formulations are optimized for their internal flow channels and nozzle sizes, featuring larger particles and higher viscosity.

Epson printheads (such as DX5/DX7/XP600/I3200) have finer nozzles and flow channels, requiring stricter control over ink particle fineness and viscosity. The Ricoh ink formulation may clog the tiny nozzles of Epson printheads or even corrode the internal piezoelectric crystals, causing irreversible damage.

2. Differences in Chemical Composition and Additives

To adapt to industrial printheads, the solvent system and dispersant formulation of Ricoh-specific inks differ from those of Epson-specific inks. Mixing the two may cause chemical reactions, leading to ink precipitation and layering, which directly damages the printhead and ink supply system.

3. Mismatched ICC Color Profiles

The color profiles of Ricoh inks are calibrated for the printing characteristics of Ricoh printheads. Using them on Epson equipment will result in issues such as color deviation and uneven printing effects.
